Cancellation Policy and Booking Conditions

  1. GUESTS ARE STRONGLY ADVISED TO PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE IN ORDER TO GUARD AGAINST THE COST OF CANCELLATION.
  2. All prices include VAT where applicable.
  3. A deposit is required to secure your room.
  4. If a deposit or balance is paid by credit card then a 2% charge will be added to the total bill. No charge is applicable to payments made by debit card.    
  5. Should you need to amend or cancel your booking please contact the hotel immediately. If the booking is amended within 14 days of the scheduled check-in time of the date of arrival, and as a result you cancel any/all room night or nights with less than 14 days notice, a charge equivalent to the total price (including any supplements selected by you) for that room night or nights will be levied unless the room is re-let for the full duration of the cancelled booking. In this event the appropriate fee will be charged without prior consent being required to the credit or debit card used at the time of the booking. A £10 administration fee will apply to any refund.
  6. PAYMENTS MADE FOR SPECIAL EVENTS ie. MURDER MYSTERIES, VALENTINES EVENTS/WEEKEND, NEW YEARS EVE BREAKS/EVENING CANNOT BE REFUNDED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES UNLESS CANCELLED BY THE VENUE.
  7. In the event of the guests non arrival the total outstanding amount excluding any deposit paid prior to the arrival date will be charged to the credit or debit card used at the time of the booking. In the event of an early departure the cardholder responsible for the booking will be liable for the full cost of the booked stay.
  8. BALANCES MUST BE PAID ON ARRIVAL BY CASH, CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD. WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT CHEQUES AS PAYMENT IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
  9. Rooms are normally available after 2pm (scheduled check-in time) on the day of arrival. We do not have a 24 hour reception and it would be greatly appreciated if you can telephone or email to advise your estimated time of arrival. No check-ins are accepted after 10pm.
  10. Guests must vacate their rooms by 10.30am (scheduled check-out time) on the day of departure.
  11. THE SHIRLEY IS A NON-SMOKING ESTABLISHMENT. In line with the non-smoking legislation and for the comfort of guests a strict non-smoking policy operates throughout the hotel building. THIS INCLUDES SMOKING THROUGH AN OPEN DOOR OR WINDOW. Guests failing to adhere to the law will be asked to leave the hotel immediately and a charge equal to three times the current booked room occupancy daily rate will be levied in order to completely air and clean the room. No refund for any period of the remaining stay will be given. Please remember that stale tobacco smoke will linger in a room for many days and is difficult to disperse making it both unpleasant and unhygienic. If it is discovered that a guest has been smoking and they have already checked out, the credit or debit card used at the time of the booking will have a charge of three times the daily room occupancy rate without any prior consent being sought.    
  12. Guests must behave in a respectful manner and not cause any nuisance or behave in a violent or abusive way. In the event of this occurring the offending person or persons will be asked to leave the premises immediately. No refund for any period of the remaining stay will be given.
  13. The right is reserved to charge for the replacement, cleaning or repair of any item(s) belonging to the hotel, or the fabric of the hotel itself, damaged either willfully or because reasonable precautions have not been taken. In this event your credit or debit card used at the time of booking will be charged without prior consent being required for the costs incurred.
  14. CHILDREN USING THE SWIMMING POOL MUST HAVE A PERSON OR PERSONS AGED 16 YEARS OR OVER TO ACCOMPANY THEM AT ALL TIMES.
  15. ANY GUEST USING THE POOL MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY ONE OTHER PERSON AGED 16 OR OVER.
  16. ANY GUEST WHO ENTERTAINS A NON RESIDENT WITHIN THEIR BEDROOM WITHOUT PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF THE HOTEL MANAGEMENT WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY AND WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY OVERNIGHT UNAUTHORISED ACCOMMODATION COSTS.
  17. GROUP BOOKINGS SUCH AS STAGS OR HENS ARE NOT ACCEPTED. SHOULD ANY BOOKINGS OF THIS NATURE BE MADE IN AN UNDERHAND MANNER THEY WILL BE CANCELLED AND THE FULL COST OF THE STAY CHARGED TO THE CARDHOLDER.        
  18. Foods such as any take-aways, pizzas, etc are strictly not allowed to be brought onto the premises.        
  19. Pets are not permitted in the hotel with the exception of working guide or hearing dogs and only when prior arrangements have been made with the hotel.     
  20. We cannot accommodate for any person with a life threatening nut or food allergy as we cannot guarantee the derivation of every item of food or drink in our kitchen or within the premises. We are however happy to cater for any other dietary needs, such as gluten-free, diabetic or vegetarian diets.       
  21. By making a booking at 'The Shirley' guests or their appointed agents are accepting the above terms and conditions.
